Kitchen Organization Tips

The kitchen, for most of us, is the heart of the home. In fact, as the epicenter of the home, the kitchen is one of the most important rooms when it comes to the resale value of your home. However, for many homeowners, the kitchen can also be characterized by clutter, crowded cabinets, and general disarray. If you've been trying to find ways to reorganize your kitchen without a costly remodel, here are a few quick ideas to help keep your kitchen organized and clutter-free.

Free The Spices:  Don't waste cabinet or drawer space on your spice collection. Spices should be handy near the stove, so install a wall rack in a convenient location. Be careful to avoid spots that will get too much heat, as this can affect the flavor of some spices.

Hang Them Up:  Hanging pot racks can both free up your cabinet space and add a chef's touch to your kitchen. If you decide against a full pot rack, consider ways to hang utensils out in the open. Pre-assembled racks can be attached to the cabinet undersides to accommodate your stemware as well.

Add Simple Storage Most kitchens have room for small shelves between the counter space and cupboards that can store dry goods or cookbooks. Pull-out hanging rods for dishtowels can be installed in spaces between appliances and cabinetry, and wire racks can be fitted around sink pipes to hold cleaning supplies.

Repack Dry Goods:  Most packaged food products can be more space efficient when removed from their original packaging and placed in stackable plastic containers.

Tailor Your Cabinet Shelves Measure your stacked dishes to find the exact height needs of your shelving, and use adjustable shelves to avoid wasting space.

Freshen It Up Make the kitchen (and the rest of your home) smell refreshing and clean with an easy stove top potpourri made with all natural ingredients (see recipe below).

Lemon & Rosemary Stove Top Potpourri

Home Buying Tip: How To Save Up For A House

Before you even begin looking at homes, consider how much you may need to save to make the process as smooth as possible for you, especially in the long run. While there are situations where you don’t need a large down payment for a home, having one can save you money down the road.  Saving for a down payment is slightly different than other large savings, like retirement. With those savings, you can set aside smaller amounts or invest the money. Because you will need your down payment sooner rather than later, those saving methods won’t be beneficial to you. Here are some steps to take to save up for your dream home! 1. Determine How Much You Need There is a general rule of thumb in real estate, the rule of 28, that says your maximum mortgage payment should not exceed 28% of your gross monthly income. Real Estate Advisor: April 2019: Add A Touch Of Spring To Your Home

Cheering up your home with some spring decor is the perfect way to prepare for warmer days and more sunshine. Here are some options to prepare your home for the next season! ADD AN HERB GARDEN While they may not last outdoors with the sporadic weather of spring, bringing potted herbs into your home and letting them soak up sunlight in a kitchen window is the perfect way to add life to your home  and  have access to fresh herbs while you’re cooking.  THINK SPRING   If you are all about DIY-ing, creating simple decorations can add a pop of seasonal color to your home. Take that pair of rain boots you don’t wear anymore and turn them into planters - add bright floral arrangements and use your new decor item as an inviting piece by your front door. POPS OF COLOR Neutral and sleek is all the rage right now, but adding a pop of color in your normal decor can add a cheerful touch to your home. Swap out your kitchen napkins or tablecloth with something a little...
